1. Who We Are

CostMog is operated by Steas Software. CostMog helps people track shared expenses, split receipts, manage groups, and receive app-related notifications.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly, such as your name, phone number, email address, profile details, group names, expense titles, expense amounts, receipt items, notes, contacts you choose to add, and support messages.

We may also collect app activity and technical information, such as device type, app interactions, authentication status, diagnostic data, and log data needed to keep CostMog secure and reliable.

3. Contacts and Invites

Contact access is optional. Before CostMog accesses or uploads contact data for account matching, the app explains what will be uploaded and asks for your consent. If you agree, CostMog securely sends normalized phone numbers from the contacts you allow to CostMog's server for a one-time comparison with phone numbers belonging to existing CostMog accounts. Contact names and email addresses are not uploaded for this matching process.

CostMog does not keep the uploaded address-book phone-number list after matching, build an address-book database, automatically add contacts as friends, or automatically message contacts. Matching results are shown only to you. A friend request or message is sent only when you separately choose a specific person and initiate that action.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to operate CostMog, create and manage groups, calculate shared balances, store receipt and expense details, show relevant app activity, send transactional notifications, provide support, improve the product, prevent abuse, and comply with legal or carrier requirements.

5. Text Messages

CostMog may send transactional SMS messages related to shared expenses, receipt updates, group invitations, account activity, and app notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Users can opt out at any time by replying STOP and can get help by replying HELP.

SMS opt-in data and consent are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may share information with service providers only as needed to deliver and support CostMog messages.

6. How We Share Information

We may share limited information with other CostMog users when needed for app features, such as showing a name in a group, displaying expense participants, or notifying someone about a shared cost. We may also share information with vendors that provide hosting, authentication, analytics, messaging, customer support, and security services.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide CostMog, maintain records, comply with obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service. You may contact us to request deletion of your account or personal information, subject to legal, security, and operational limitations.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk and protect user data.

9. Your Choices

You can update certain account information in the app, choose whether to use contact-based features, revoke CostMog's Contacts access at any time in your device settings, opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP, and contact us with privacy requests.

10. Children

CostMog is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating this page or providing notice in the app.
